It could grow incantatory, as it did in the tolling ballad “Oh Comely.” But it also, despite the worshipful crowd, courted monotony. Mr. Mangum’s vocals, unvarying and absolutely steady on pitch when he held a note, could suggest a flesh-and-blood version of Auto-Tune.

Well, it’s here.
Beyonce reportedly gave birth to a daughter yesterday in New York, named either Blue Ivy or Ivy Blue. (Gwyneth Paltrow says it’s “Blue Ivy,” but since when has she been a trustworthy individual?) Ivy Blue Knowles-Z is a much better name, so obviously I’m pushing for the opposite.

Television’s Yule Log Now Blazes in 3-D -... →
Last year’s news, but I only yesterday discovered the Yule Log On Demand, mixed in with the free movies. For a Brooklyn apartment with not one, but two, bricked-in fireplaces, an On Demand looped video of a crackling fire with ‘O Tannenbaum’ playing in the background seems like just the ticket.
I can’t convince anyone to let me keep it on for more than 30-45 seconds,...
